Palisades Tahoe Opening!
In our December 1st blog, we forecasted the possibility of two storms and this proved to be very accurate. Just over the past two days, Palisades Tahoe received 52 inches of fresh snow. The storm is not over however, as several more feet of fresh snow is expected to fall through tomorrow.
This atmospheric river has been a much-needed precipitation event for all of California. The cold front that accompanied it, endowed the Sierras with a good base of snowpack and this may alleviate several years of drought. We expect another storm around December 20th, so we are confident that the 2021/2022 snow season will be epic.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning through 10 p.m. Tuesday December 15th. Officials warn that travel through the region is already creating hazardous conditions. 3-6 feet of snow is expected above 6,000 feet and 8 feet of snow will fall at higher elevations. Check road conditions prior to traveling, and always pack your car with blankets, water, flashlight and other emergency gear.

Weather Forecast End December 2021
This snow storm is truly a wonderful Christmas present for the California environment and skiers and boarders alike. Once the storm passes, it may take a little time for the Palisades Tahoe resort to get the hill groomed to perfection for the 2021/2022 ski season.
The National Weather Service is issuing a winter storm warning through the 16th at 10am. Thursday afternoon should be lighter snow with a sunny Friday, into the weekend, of powder skiing. The next storm rolls in around December 20thor 21st followed by snow showers lasting throughout the end of the month. Yes, we will have a white Christmas at Lake Tahoe!
